Homework is sent home on Fridays. It should be returned to school by Wednesday. If there is any reason why your child could not complete their homework, simply let Mr Thomson know and he will always accept that.
The homework usually consists of a piece of English and Maths homework, but at times, it may relate to other work we are doing in class.
In addition to the weekly homework, the children should read regularly each day. All of the children will have a home reading book that should go home each evening. Please sign their reading diary whenever you listen to them read. When they finish a book, they should change the book the following day. They are expected to do this without being told to do so by the teacher. If a child forgets to change a finished book, they can still read their own book that night and their reading record can be signed as usual by a parent.
Weekly spelling lists will be available for download from the link on this page. Regular practise will help the children do well in their spelling tests.
By the time they reach Year 4, children should be confident with their times tables. Knowing their tables will benefit your child as they work towards their final years at Ashleigh. You can download some practise sheets from the link below.
