Times Tables

A large amount of the mathematics children do in the junior school requires a good understanding of times tables. If your child can quickly recall their tables facts, they will be able to give more of their thinking to solving the other problems in their work. The more regularly children work on their tables, the better they will become at recalling these facts. By the end of year 4, pupils should have memorised their multiplication tables up to and including the 12 multiplication table and show precision and fluency in their work.

The files below can be used as a regular practise to help your child.

  • Use them for short 10 minute sessions followed by a review and 'scoring' session.
  • Target your child with improving two or three errors they made.
  • Challenge them to improve their score next time.
  • Use lots of praise and encouragement.
  • Watch those scores improve.
