Bench dedication

On Thursday 7th July, children from Ashleigh will be laying a wreath on the Cross of Sacrifice in memory of soldiers who died during the Battle of the Somme in July 1916. An inscribed granite bench will be unveiled on behalf of the Darwen Townswomen's Guild to honour the women of the area who supported soldiers during the Great War.

We are delighted to be part of this event, as our school building was opened at the start of World War One, and has played such a significant part in the area, in a variety of roles, ever since.
