Helping Us

How you can help the school

Ashleigh Primary School lies at the heart of the Whitehall area community and it benefits from lots of helpers.

The help we receive from parents is invaluable and is much appreciated by staff; it also shows the value parents place in children’s learning and children benefit from this.  Parents interested in helping in school, and who have the necessary free time, should speak to any member of the teaching staff.

Parents can help in many different ways, including:

  • Sharing skills and interests eg talking about their job, helping with computer activities
  • Listening to children read
  • Accompanying children on educational visits
  • Making costumes for productions

Regular helpers in school are all checked in line with government guidelines for Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.

Local businesses have built up links with our school and we value their help. For example, our RHS award winning gardens produce vegetables which are used in our own kitchens and the nearby hotel. Learners from local high schools gain work experience by helping in school.  Our children benefit from seeing positive role models make such worthwhile contributions. Some of the local companies who have worked with us recently include WEC and East Lancashire Hospice.
