Priorities for 2025-26
- Curriculum
- Learning Outside the Classroom
- Reading across school
Our 3-Year Vision (2025-2028):
Learning, Growing, and Achieving Together
Our vision is rooted in our motto, "Together we Learn, Grow and Achieve".
Over the next three years, we will transform our school from 'Good' to 'Exceptional' by focusing on three core pillars:
Pillar 1: Exceptional Education and Aspirational Outcomes
Our Vision: By 2028, we will be a beacon of academic excellence. We will build on our significant strengths in Mathematics and Writing to become a leading school for Reading. Our curriculum will ensure deep, 'sticky knowledge' is retained by all, enabling every child to exceed national expectations and closing the gap for pupils not achieving the higher standard.
This will be achieved by:
- Mastering Reading: Moving beyond our 2025-26 objective of refining schemes to a whole-school, evidence-based mastery approach to reading, ensuring our KS2 outcomes (65.5% Exp+ in 2025) rise to be significantly above the national average.
- Embedding "Sticky Knowledge": Evolving the 2025-26 goal of embedding memory retrieval into a fully sequenced, knowledge-rich curriculum where pupils consistently build on prior learning, leading to a measurable increase in pupils achieving the 'High Score' at KS2.
- Driving High Standards: Ensuring our curriculum and teaching practices are designed to challenge all pupils, particularly our highest attainers, to reverse the trend of performing below the national average for 'High' standard pupils at KS2.
Pillar 2: Cultivating Thriving, Confident Children
Our Vision: We will nurture the 'whole child,' creating confident, articulate, and caring citizens. We will be defined by our outstanding pastoral care and our success in eliminating barriers to learning, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has the support and opportunity to thrive.
This will be achieved by:
- Closing the Gap: Making the eradication of the attainment gap for our disadvantaged pupils our highest priority. We will move from monitoring this gap to actively closing it at every key stage (currently -38.7% at KS2, -35.4% at KS1, and -36.4% in Y1 Phonics).
- Empowering Pupil Voice: Building on the 2025-26 goal to revitalise the school council to create a culture where pupil leadership is a central, driving force in school life and decision-making.
- Preparing for Modern Life: Expanding our curriculum to embed 'life skills,' cultural diversity, and wellbeing, ensuring our pupils leave Ashleigh as resilient and well-rounded individuals.
Pillar 3: An Empowered and Sustainable Community
Our Vision: We will be an employer of choice and a cornerstone of the community, where staff, leaders, and parents work in powerful partnership. We will invest in our people to create a sustainable, supportive, and high-performing culture built on our strength of strong morale and teamwork.
This will be achieved by:
- Developing 'Leaders at all Levels': Growing our 2025-26 objective of strengthening middle leadership into a comprehensive professional development programme for all staff, including support staff, empowering them to lead and innovate.
- Prioritising Wellbeing as a Strategy: Championing our commitment to protecting staff workload and wellbeing as the foundation of our school's success, ensuring we maintain our good staff retention.
- Strengthening Community Bonds: Moving beyond 2025-26 workshops to fully embedding parents as partners in their children's learning, creating a truly collaborative community.
